When you are ready to sell, we are ready to work for you.

Deciding on the best way to sell a coin collection can be a challenge.  In fact, it can be overwhelming.  If you are not an expert in coins, you will be facing a very steep learning curve, and you will still be at the mercy of a dealer who has more experience and knowledge.

At Capitol Auctions, our job is to provide that expertise on your behalf, equipping you with the knowledge and guidance to make sound decisions regarding your coins and paper money.

We are a very efficiently-run family-owned company and are able to offer some of the lowest consignor rates in the auction business.  The result is more money for our consignors !

Whether you live in the Evansville regional area or not, we will – at no charge to you – evaluate your collection and inform you of what items are best suited for auction.  Keep in mind that just because something is not an ideal auction candidate does not mean it has no value.  We will thoroughly explain why each item may or may not achieve its highest value at auction.

During our consultation, any questions you have will be addressed to help you understand the process and make you comfortable that your objectives are met.  If you do not live in the Evansville regional area, we can handle all of this by e-mail and/or telephone.

Once you decide to let us work for you, we will complete a basic Consignment Agreement and you will receive a copy for your records.

If you are local, we will pick up your consignment when we complete the Consignment Agreement.  You can rest assured that your items will be fully insured and physically secure while in our possession.

If you live outside of the Evansville regional area, we will provide instructions on how best to ship your items to us.  For very large or very high value consignments, we may make arrangements to come to you.

Once in our possession, we will go to work expertly photographing your items, writing accurate descriptions, and building a catalog that will bring bidding excitement and the highest returns possible.

We have an extensive customer list and all of them will be notified of your auction.  We also advertise our auctions on CoinZip and through Proxibid.  For large auctions, we may also advertise in national coin periodicals.

About a week before the live auction, you will be provided a list of your lots along with a link to view the online auction.  This allows you to follow the progress of your items on the days leading up to the auction, as well as during the live auction !

After the auction, all items are clerked and accounted for using professional auction software to ensure accuracy.

Although Indiana auction law requires auctioneers to pay consignors within 30 days of an auction, we don’t wait that long.  Your check will be in the mail no later than 14 days after the auction.

Well, that’s our process !  If you still have questions, please use the button below to contact us and we can answer all of your questions.
